Ryan Phillippe Is Ready to ‘Hit the Gas’ in the Exhilarating New Series Motorheads: See the Trailer (Exclusive)

Ryan Phillippe is putting the pedal to the metal in his new racing series, Motorheads.
The upcoming Prime Video series chronicles “first love, first heartbreak, and turning the key in your first car,” according to an official synopsis.
“Set in a once-thriving rust-belt town that’s now searching for a glimmer of hope, the series is an adrenaline-filled story of a group of outsiders who form an unlikely friendship over a mutual love of street racing, while navigating the hierarchy and rules of high school,” the description continues.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive first look at the Motorheads trailer, the group of teens is told, “There are two types of people in this world, those that hit the brakes and those that hit the gas. The question you have to ask yourself is, which one are you?”
While cars are put in a high gear and punches are thrown, Caitlyn (Melissa Collazo) is on a search for answers about the disappearance of her father in the small town of Ironwood, Pennsylvania, following her family’s move from New York City.
“Give this town a chance,” she tells her brother Zac (Michael Cimino), who wonders why he should. She adds, “Because maybe then we’ll finally know more about dad.”
“Nobody has to know who we are,” he reminds Caitlyn, to which she replies, “Well, maybe I wanna know who we are.”

Their uncle Logan (Phillippe), a former NASCAR mechanic, wants the teens to feel at home, saying, “I know it can’t be easy starting over at a new school. I think this time might surprise you.”
One surprise comes for Zac when he meets a new girl, Samantha (Nathalie Kelley), who offers him a warm welcome to Ironwood.
But the good times are short-lived when Zac sees Harris Bowers (Josh Macqueen), who is preparing for a race.
“My dad used to race here,” Zac tells Marcel (Nicolas Cantu), and he asks, “Who’s your dad?”

“Christian Maddox,” he answers and Marcel is astonished, saying, “Are you serious? He’s a legend.”
Harris is quick to put him in his place. “You’re no one here. You don’t matter,” Harris says as he shoves him while Samantha watches.
“Maybe not yet, but I will,” Zac (Michael Cimino) says as he realizes he needs to live up to his father’s reputation.

Caitlyn, who knows just about everything about motors, then realizes she knows “a car that can beat him.” When she arrives at the garage, Logan says, “That was your dad’s car.”
“I’m not supposed to ask any questions about him,” she says, to which he replies, “I probably don’t have the answers anyway. It would take a lot of work to get that rusty old thing back on the road.”
Zac then tells Logan, “I need you to teach me how to race.”
It appears not everything is going to plan when a car crashes and police race in. Logan declares, “I’ve seen this movie. It doesn’t have a good ending.”
“There’s three kinds of people, those who hit the brakes and those who hit the gas,” Zac concludes.
The series also stars Nathalie Kelley, Uriah Shelton, Josh Macqueen, Mia Healey, Matt Lanter, Audrey Gerthoffer, and Johnna Dias-Watson.
